Talk:'Cause When I'm Bad
From Walkypedia!
Regarding the fact/stats box in the upper right corner of the page. Until now, it has had four fields: Title, Strip, Start, End. I think this is a good format. I think that, for instance, adding information about where an intermission starts and ends is opening a big can of worms. If we describe the intermission there, maybe we ought to make a special note for when the single page for "American Pie: the Pie Strikes Back" breaks the sequence. Maybe we ought to have stats for the subplots in Consummation. Etc etc. It's my strongly held opinion that adding extra information isn't worth it. --vermeil 14:16, 1 March 2007 (CST)
- At the same time, the intermission here isn't even in the same time period as the main story. Hell, it's not even the same frelling COMIC STRIP as the main story - it's Roomies!, not It's Walky!. It's not original material for the period - it's a web "printing" of stuff from Roomies! Book 1.
- This is part of the reason why I don't think it should be mentioned in the box. It's another thing, nothing to do with "'Cause when I'm bad" at all. --vermeil 16:29, 1 March 2007 (CST)
- What about Trojan Horrors as well - that sets the precedent by having its' own page (it takes place, of course, between strips of Consummation... [emmm... that doesn't sound quite right, does it]), and if you list that date range for King of the Road, you're double-listing the date range. - SoM talk page 14:24, 1 March 2007 (CST)
- Of course the comiconvention story should have its own page (once it has an official title, the only reason I didn't make a new page for it was that I didn't want to set a definite title by myself) -- that quite another issue. Also, there is no double-listing of dates. The stats box tells which date the storyline started, and which date it ends. Whether the sequence in between is unbroken, another story is inserted within it, DW took a hiatus, none of that changes the fact that the storyline has a start date and an end date. This is a very important point for me. --vermeil 16:29, 1 March 2007 (CST)
- And it's a very important point for me that the box reflects the actual period over which the story took place. Should the Roomies! page say "first strip 8 Sep 1997, last strip 2 Mar 2007" without, y'know, acknowledging that Roomies-proper ended on Xmas Eve 1999? Saying "this is very important" doesn't wash, because I feel equally as strongly the other way. - SoM talk page 20:46, 1 March 2007 (CST)
- Again, this is another matter entirely. Roomies! is an aggregate of smaller parts that DW made over the course of several years, and it's quite possible that he will add more parts in the future. Roomies! has a start date, but no single definite end date. CWIB on the other hand is (most likely) a finished piece, with a fixed publication span. One possible compromise could be to change the stats from start/end to something like "runs date1 -- date2, date3 -- date4". I still think this is an unnecessary inconvenience, but I could probably live with it. Also, I think you misunderstand; this isn't important to me because I feel strongly one way or another: it's important to me because I'm mentally unequipped to cope with the formatting you want (see my user page).--vermeil 01:59, 2 March 2007 (CST)
- Snap. Got my diagnosis in the middle of last year. I'll think about the compromise. - SoM talk page 07:40, 2 March 2007 (CST)
- So, how is it going to be? I'd love to be a part of the Walkypedia effort, but I feel I can't do this if the end product doesn't make sense.--vermeil 13:20, 6 March 2007 (CST)
- I still don't get why Start date/Intermission (optional)/End date doesn't make sense to you. Could you please, WITHOUT EMOTIVE LANGUAGE, explain it to me one more time? - SoM talk page 14:51, 6 March 2007 (CST)
- So, you deface the page I made with an unnecessary, illogical, and inconsistent addition, and then you require me to explain yet again why I want to remove it? I also sense that you find my alleged use of "EMOTIVE LANGUAGE" to be inappropriate. Well, the only reason for me to participate in this is NOSTALGIA. The only reason for me to discuss this specific issue is that I'm UPSET with having material that I CARE about distorted by you. If I use emotive language, it's because it's certainly appropriate in this matter. I want you to back off, allow me to restore the page, and refrain from further unnecessary edits on my pages in the future.--vermeil 02:26, 7 March 2007 (CST)
- And I completely fail to see why it is ANY of "unnecessary, illogical and inconsistant", "distort[ing]" or [a second] "unnecessary" (I think it's vital, actually). Are we talking about one informing line in a box, or me scribbling "VERMIELL SUX!!!" all over the page? If it was the latter, you getting upset would be "certainly appropriate". All you're doing is removing information - not "restoring", removing. - SoM talk page 17:43, 8 March 2007 (CST)
- Fine, have it your way then. A word to the wise: if you keep pulling this, you're eventually going to get yourself banned for vandalism. Bye.--vermeil 00:56, 9 March 2007 (CST)

- According to the Comic Search for Roomies/IW!, the brief storyline is called "Roomies #5". I don't think the "Nerd Kisses Janeway" title is appropriate, as it give away the ending. It likely should be stuck after the end of Roomies, (Coming Up), but before Roomies Redux. McFS 17:53, 1 March 2007 (CST)
- Why's that? It's before Ruth died, clearly enough (I agree about NKJ being a bad title though). Willis said it's between Ruthless and Joyce Gets a Hobby. - SoM talk page 20:46, 1 March 2007 (CST)
