Optimus Prime is a character in the real world (Teletraan-1) as well as a fictional character in the Walkyverse and is featured in gag strips in Shortpacked!. Optimus Prime has existed in different forms for different continuities. He is a Transformer.

The character of Optimus Prime is remembered fondly by Danny and Ethan. When revisiting his original (G1) Optimus Prime toy he is disappointed that it is not as awesome as he recalled. The toy had limited articulation and few action-features compared to Joe's Optimus Primal and the hands had to be removed for transformation. Removing the hands led Danny to lose them during his youth, replacements cost Danny $30.

Ethan has an encyclopedic knowledge of Optimus and all things Transformers. He got in a pudding based fist fight with David Willis over the Transformers wiki, revolving around retconning the Transformers' origin. Nerds. Robin attempted to break up this scuffle by dressing as an obscure version of Optimus but Ethan and Willis only pointed out an error. Nerds.

Optimus seems to not approve of alternative lifestyles. He appeared in a gag-strip where he relinquished a Cyber Planet Key after Megatron tried to kiss him. This may be problematic since Ethan needed to get laid by Optimus.

He also appeared to use the Matrix to open tough jar lids.
