Mary is the high-school friend of Sal and Danny. An extremely moral and uptight Christian (at least apparently), she was a balance to Sal's goofy attitude. She later took Art at Indiana University, the same university as Danny and Joe.
Mary firmly believes that bad things only happen to bad people, that she and people like her are superior to 'less moral' creatures, and that outward behavior implies inner purity. She's one big pain in the ass.

History
Roomies!
It's not known why Mary became such close friends with such an oddball as Sal. Her highly moral attitude clashed often with Sal's goofy spirit, yet they remained close until Sal moved away again with her parents. Later that year, she started at Indiana University taking Art studies. Rooming with Sarah, she also clashed with her.
Whilst here, she clashed heavily with Danny's girlfriend Billie, whose uncaring attitude to life angered Mary to her core. Yet this turned out to be hypocritical, after Mary slept with Eric at a party. Trying to turn Danny against Billie, she claimed she was turning into an alcoholic. However Danny later chose to side with Billie and implied that Mary was pregnant. During Is a Song Forever?, it was revealed that she had an abortion, and actually helped Danny sort out his problems with Billie, even though Billie didn't accept her apologies over the incident.
It's Walky!
Mary reappeared briefly when Sal brought Jason to her needing medical attention. Asking for her father, Mary revealed that her husband Peter was also a doctor and that she had married him after once again getting pregnant. When Sal revealed that she had heard Mary talk bad about her behind her back, she attempted to confess to her what had happened to her in University. Yet Mary still believed that bad things had happened to both of them because of they had been bad. Sal accused her of only ever offering judgment instead of compassion, resulting it being faux pas for Jason to be grateful to her. She then had Peter call the cops on the two of them after they left.
